High-Speed Steel M42 Bars consist of about 1.05% Carbon, 4.0% Molybdenum, 8.0% Cobalt, 2.0% Vanadium, and 1.0% Tungsten. With small quantities of Chromium and Manganese, the composition is particularly suitable for M42 to provide for the ultimate hardness and wear resistance. For cutting tools and industrial fields, this has been demonstrated to be optimal. The mechanical properties include a high Rockwell hardness of 68-70 HRC, good toughness, and also provides excellent resistance to thermal softening at elevated temperatures.
